Finished Hunter Safety at Nora Springs.

Walnut slabs are selling OK, we are up to about $500 in 10 blanks which makes less than ¼ of what we have to sell.  I’ve been selling about a blank a week for the last month or so and will continue at about that rate until it’s gone.  This will compare very favorably to the average $307 a tree we received from our previous sale of 27 trees.

Scheduled to work on Deer Creek Forest timber this year.  Recommendation was to clear 4 acres of very poor quality timber and replant with swamp white oak, bur oak and hackberry.  Planning to clear a 4 acre strip along west edge.  Would like to let bids this spring on bulldozer work (to clear understory).

Christiansen moved to accept the Naturalist’s report.  Second by Sime.  Motion carried.

Christiansen asked the Director to contact Falk about getting the berm at Kuennen’s Quarry finished this spring.

The board decided that the development money in the 09 budget should be used to build sidewalks and finish the landscaping around the new shelter at Kuennen’s Quarry.

There was a very lengthy discussion on Silver Lake Park and the archaeological work that needs to be done.  With out have the archaeological survey finished we can not move the campground and the park continues to deteriorate.  The Director was asked to approach the Supervisors for their opinions.

After reviewing the rules and regulations the board recommended keeping dogs off the beaches at Kuennen’s Quarry.  This can be accomplished with signs under the currant ordinances.

Faber moved to have the following fees in place for 2008: Cabin at Kuennen’s - $70 per rental, the new shelter at Kuennen’s - $35 per rental and $20 for all other shelters.  Second by Christiansen.  Motion carried.
