MINUTES

SEPTEMBER 2008

 

 

 

President Vansteenburg called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM.  Board members also present were Justin Faber, Randy Sime and Matt Smith.  Others present were Dan Block and Dean Mueller.

 

Smith moved to approve the agenda.  Second by Faber.  Motion carried.

 

Smith moved to approve the minutes.  Second by Sime.  Motion carried.

 

Director’s report:

  1. Have not heard back from ISU on Silver Lake report.
  2. Working on the handicap fishing pier at KQ.
  3. Planting food plots that were to wet or failed this spring.  Using a mix of winter peas and winter wheat or buck forage oats.
  4. Should be ready for the open house on the 28.  Have an add ready to go to the paper.
  5. There is a parade in Joice on the 13th, Brett and Dan will take the float.
  6. Had problems with a rental at Silver Lake, the SO dealt with the problem before I would have had to.

Faber moved to accept the director’s report.  Second by Smith.  Motion carried.

25 programs for the month.  Finished young naturalist programs and started school programs.

 

Used boat for doing lake survey type programs for NK and CS ecology classes (new programs).

 

Received notification that the rearing pond at willow creek can be built.  Will try to build that this fall with CS ecology classes.

 

Smith moved to accept the naturalist report.  Second by Sime.  Motion carried.

 

The Board toured a possible land acquisition and Worth County Lake and Kuennen’s Quarry before the meeting.  Comments from the tour were the director should get prices on a bridge to replace the one at Worth Co. Lake and a price to have sheet piling driven at the beach at Kuennen’s Quarry.

 

The open house plans are coming together and there will be an add in the paper the next 3 weeks.  The director was asked to personally invite the Supervisors to the open house.

 

Smith moved to approve the annual report.  Second by Faber.  Motion carried.
