Resolution for the Destruction of

NOXIOUS WEEDS

BE IT RESOLVED, by the board of Supervisors of Worth County, Iowa:

That pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 317.1, Code of Iowa

It is hereby ordered:

1.                That each owner and each person in the possession or control of any land in Worth County shall cut, burn, or otherwise destroy all noxious weeds thereon, as defined in this chapter, at such time in each year and in such manner as shall prevent said weeds from blooming or coming to maturity, and shall keep lands free from such growth of any other weeds as shall render the streets or highways adjoining said lands unsafe for public travel.  Noxious weeds shall be cut or otherwise destroyed.

Primary noxious weeds, which shall include:

Quack Grass

Perennial Sow Thistle

Canada Thistle

Bull thistle

Horse Nettle

Leafy Spurge

Perennial Pepper-grass

Russian Knapweed

Buckthorn

European Morning Glory or Field Bindweed

Secondary noxious weeds, which shall include:

Butterprint Annual

Cocklebur Annual

Wild Mustard Annual

Wild Carrot Biennial

Buckhorn Perennial

Sheep Sorrel Perennial

Sour Dock Perennial

Smooth Dock Perennial

Poison Hemlock

Multiflora Rose

Wild Sunflower Annual

Puncture Vine Annual

Teasel Biennial

Shattercane Annual

 

2.                That all weeds on county trunk and local county roads and between fence lines thereof will be taken care of by the county.

3.                That if the owner or persons in possession or control of any railroad land in Worth County fail to comply with the forgoing order, the Weed Commissioner shall cause this to be done and that the expense of said work, including costs of serving notice and other costs, if any, to be assessed against the real estate.

4.                That the county auditor be and is hereby directed to cause notice of the making and entering of the foregoing order by publication in each of the official newspapers of the county.

5.                The Weed Commissioner Joy Hendrikson, Jr. (641)326-4578, be given full authority and power to carry out the provision of the resolution.
